During the week we put a deposit on a car. We have chosen a 2008 V8 Toyota Landcruiser 76. It has some basics like the bullbar, snorkel and Hayman Reese, but we will have to add the electric brakes, towing mirrors and tow ball.
Tomorrow is another trip to Dad and Mum's with more of our stuff. We are so thankful to them for storing our gear...big saving on a storage unit.
Speaking of, I have yet more packing to do before tomorrow....
Hi, my family of 2A+2kids (8 & 10) are half way through a 3 year trip around Australia. We are also Queenslanders (Warwick) but currently call Fitzroy Crossing WA home (for at least 3 days anyway). Wherever the van is parked is home! I remember clearly the stress of packing up and actually leaving. A suggestion once you leave is just go somewhere nice to camp for a full week so you can take a deep breath and destress. We chose a beach front caravan park at Hervey Bay. It was a marriage saver and gave the whole family a chance to get used to our new space! Look forward to following your blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comment. You spend so much time packing, organising schooling, preparing the car and the van, that sometimes you feel completely on your own on this journey. With such confusion and frustration, it was wonderful to have your understanding. When my husband read your comment, he said 'Let's take their advice. It's time to get our heads around everything.' I really hope we cross paths in our great big country. See You Soon, Carolyn
